ISO 13935 Seam Tensile Properties of Textiles

This part of EN ISO 13935 specifies a procedure to determine the seam maximum force of sewn seams when the force is applied perpendicularly to the seam. This test standard is divided into two parts, ISO 13935-1 strip test and ISO 13935-2 grab test.

ISO 13935-1 Maximum Force to Seam Rupture Using the Strip Method of Textiles
ISO 13935-2 Maximum Force to Seam Rupture Using the Grab Method of Textiles

Equipment Required
The tensile-testing machine(CRE), which shall be provided with means for indicating or recording the force applied to the test specimen in stretching it to rupture. Under conditions of use, the accuracy of the apparatus shall be either class 1 or class 2 of EN 10002-2.

ISO 13935 requires a test machine in which the error of the indicated or recorded maximum force at any point in the range in which the machine is used shall not exceed +- 1 5. For ISO 13935-1, the machine shall be capable of constant rate of extension of 100 mm/min, with an accuracy of +- 10 %. The machine shall be capable of setting the gauge length to 200 mm, to within +- 1 mm.

ISO 13935-2, the machine shall be capable of constant rate of extension of 50 mm/min, with an accuracy of +- 10 %. The machine shall be capable of setting the gauge length to 100 mm, to within +- 1 mm.
